Dave Carson, Winemaker

Dave has worked in vineyards since age eleven. He was doing basic field analysis at age fifteen; too young to drive but knowledgeable enough to measure acidity! While still a teen, he worked on the Becker Project, a major research project that greatly influenced development of the BC wine industry. Before coming to the Ranch, he produced the multiple-award winning 1997 Pinot Blanc Sumac Ridge Estate Winery Ice wine. Now, as the Senior See Ya Later Winemaker at he is responsible for managing the cellar and creating a “best of show” portfolio of wines inspired by the lifestyle and the location. “On my first day here, I turned from the incredible view of Skaha Lake to the hundred acre vineyard behind me and I still have a smile on my face.”

Dave’s passionate commitment to every detail of the winemaking process has earned many awards and accolades. His greatest pleasure is in pouring for appreciative winery visitors: “I’m proud to be part of a team so totally committed to producing wines of the highest quality.”
